The crescendo was achieved at the venerable New York University, culminating in a Ph.D. by 1979.While these qualifications were milestones, his real impact was felt at the Community College of Philadelphia. He became a beacon of knowledge for forty years, with a particularly impactful tenure of twelve years at the helm of the Communications Department.

His scholarly pursuits also found expression in literature. "Understanding Communication" is a testament to his prowess, now revered in its fourth edition and serving as an academic guidepost across countless institutions.

Yet, Douglas was not just an academic titan. The snowy trails beckoned, and he answered with enthusiasm. Snowboarding became more than a hobby; it was a passion, and he became a sought-after instructor.

Beyond these realms, his heart resonated with compassion, evident in his selfless involvement with the Ramapo Bergen Animal Rescue Association. Here, he became a voice for the voiceless, advocating and ensuring the well-being of countless animals.

History, with its vast expanse and timeless tales, enamored him. He carved a niche as a history enthusiast, engaging actively in discussions, leading insightful sessions, and participating in significant historical commemorations.

As professional commitments fade into the backdrop, retirement unveils a new quest: exploring the English language's rich tapestry. This endeavor, brimming with promise, awaits its debut.

"Douglas B Hoehn of Wyckoff, New Jersey, is participating on a panel at the Revolutionary War annual convention at Williamsburg, Virginia, on March 15 and 16. Hoehn and other authorities will discuss "Was Benedict Arnold More A Hero or Traitor ."The panel will discuss Arnold's contributions to Ticonderoga, Valcor Island, and Saratoga. Also, there are possible reasons why he agreed with the British to surrender West Point and his military services to the Crown after he became a traitor to the American cause. Hoehn said, "Benedict Arnold is one of American history's most conflicted and misunderstood figures." The panel is open to all attendees at the convention and will be available on history channels as well."

Dr Douglas B Hoehn, of Wyckoff, New Jersey, will be conducting a workshop for faculty at The Borough of Manhattan Community College this June at the main campus. Dr Hoehn recently completed an audit of the college’s Speech and Communication Departments where he focused on the College’s strengths and need with suggestions for improvement. This is one of many departments at colleges and universities Dr Hoehn has performed in his role as consultant. He has  Masters Degree in Communications from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D from New York University.
